This book has three stories. In the first story we meet two married mice called Nutmeg and Tumtum.  They live in Nutmouse Hall inside Rose Cottage. Two children live in Rose Cottage with their father. The mice are friends with the children and they take care of each other. When the children’s aunt comes to visit, the mice stop an attack by Aunt Ivy, who is awfully awful. She wants to poison the mice and get them out of Rose Cottage. Tumtum got sick from the poison and Nutmeg had to find help. Together with their friends they chase off Aunt Ivy and save Nutmouse Hall.

The second story was fun because Tumtum and Nutmeg rescue General Marchmouse from being sent to a pet store with naked gerbils. This story involves thirteen ballerina mice on pogo sticks that live in the local church. They help the Rose Cottage mice save their friend and the naked gerbils from being sent away.

In the third story Tumtum and Nutmeg go camping with the Rose Cottage children.   General Marchmouse gets once again gets in trouble by getting captured by Rats.  Tumtum and Nutmeg try to help their friend again, and get caught by the Rats as well.   They must trick the Rats into letting them go by getting them drunk with chocolate liquors. How they do this is very clever.

I liked these stories because they were fun, scary, and fast paced. You will like these books if you like small smart animals!

Sixth graders Dara and Zoe are best friends. Zoe is surprised when Dara wants to try out for the school musical. While Zoe waits for Dara outside the tryouts, she spots the strange new kids, Lucas. He is writing in a small notebook in front of the door. When the door hits him, he runs away, leaving the notebook behind. Zoe picks up the ntebook to give to him at school the next day, when she realizes that she is late for her job (feeding lizards, then observing them). When Zoe gets home, she looks in the notebook, but can’t read it because it’s written in cipher/code. As Zoe looks through it, she spots her name (her brain figured out the cipher without even knowing it). The next morning she confronts Lucas to as why her name was in there. Zoe goes to Hubbard School. She only has one class with her best friend and that’s gym. One day she finds a notebook that belongs to a new boy at the school named Lucas. When she reads his writing she finds strange words that look like a code, like ab+H+oowb. Can you read that? She solves one of his stories and Lucas calls her a code-reading genius. He starts to give her more codes to break. Zoe learns a lot about friendship and how to believe in herself. I loved this book because it is full of this strange writing. Anyone who reads it will love it.

However, their vacation dreams turn sour when their grandmother's friend gets hurt in an accident. Their new plans involve finding a great leopard named Khan in Zimbabwe in order to uncover the king's treasures. This book is full of exciting and sometimes scary adventures. "Soldier's Secret: The Story of Deborah Samson" is a rich novel filled to the brim with suspense, action and secrets. Based on the true life of Deborah Sampson, a woman living in the time of the Revolutionary War, Klass fictionally covers Sampson's life—from her mother giving her away at age five to her success in the Patriot army. Masquerading as a man, Sampson gains the trust and respect of her fellow soldiers as dead shot, fluent reader, excellent scribe—all while struggling with her own inner struggle for independence. The inspiring story of Deborah Sampson, a woman living in the time where females were considered incompetent, proves to us all that success is merely a thing of perseverance and a belief in yourself. It’s about a girl named Mia who is in her senior year of high school, has an awesome family, an amazing boyfriend, and the best friend she could ask for. Mia lives in Oregon, and has played the cello ever since she was eight. Her family consists of her mom, the feminist, her dad, the rocker who became a teacher, and Teddy, her younger brother. One snowy morning, when all the schools where shut down even though there was hardly any snow, the family decided to drive down to their friends house who recently had a baby. During the ride there, there was an accident. The next thing Mia knows, she isn’t a part of her body anymore. The body is traumatized and in a coma, but the soul is free. Now, Mia needs to decide if she will stay (live), or if she will go. She watches all her loved ones, except for her immediate family who died, come and talk to her; and looks back on her life, trying to make the right choice. My favorite part was when Mia’s boyfriend went through all this trouble just to let her know he came and he wants her to stay. I think the book was very well written, and well plotted as well. Every character was likeable, every character had a meaning and love influenced it. I had as hard a time predicting what will happen as Mia had choosing whether she wants to live or not. Even though the story takes place just two or three days in a hospital, it had a fast pace. I never got bored while reading it. I definitely recommend this book to whoever picks it up.
