I'm doing things backwards again this month, because it's my birth-month and because there are so many amazing YA novels out! Not all of them are out yet, but you can always pre-order any titles, and they'll be out by the end of the month. Enjoy! When You Were Mine (Hardcover)$16.99 ISBN-13: 9781442433137Availability: On Our Shelves Now Published: Simon Pulse, 5/2012 Everyone knows the story of the doomed lovers, Romeo and Juliet, but what about Rosaline? Rosaline was the girl Romeo went to the Capulet party to meet and then forgot about, the girl everyone forgets about. "When You Were Mine" is a modern day version of "Romeo and Juliet" told from the forgotten girl's point of view - a heartbreaking read and a strong debut! Shift (Hardcover)$16.99 ISBN-13: 9781606843581Availability: Usually Ships in 1-5 days Published: EgmontUSA, 5/2012 They say imitation is the highest form of flattery, but what if someone wasn't content to just be like you...what if they wanted to be you? And what if they would stop at nothing, not even murder, to achieve their goal? Em Bailey's YA debut is a chilling psychological thriller that teens will devour! What She Left Behind (Paperback)$9.99 ISBN-13: 9781442439511Availability: On Our Shelves Now Published: Simon Pulse, 5/2012 Biler's debut, about domestic abuse, sets an ominous tone from page one. The sense of dread increases as the story goes on, becoming almost palpable. A chilling read! Struck (Hardcover)$17.99 ISBN-13: 9780374372835Availability: Usually Ships in 1-5 days Published: Farrar, Straus and Giroux (BYR), 5/2012 This earth-shaking debut (couldn't help myself!) was written by a screenwriter and it's obvious in the realistic characters, exciting plot, and fast pace! Teens - girls and guys both - will devour this apocalyptic thriller!
PS: this author is a part of the Fierce Reads tour and will be here June 5th! http://www.mrsnelsons.com/event/fierce-reads-tour-stops-mrs-nelsons Happy Families (Hardcover)$16.99 ISBN-13: 9780375869662Availability: Usually Ships in 1-5 days Published: Knopf Books for Young Readers, 5/2012 Davis tackles a tricky subject - a transgender father - with sensitivity and grace. Any teen can get something from "Happy Families" whether they relate to it or learn from it or both. Definitely check this one out! The Last Princess (Hardcover)$17.99 ISBN-13: 9780316185486Availability: On Our Shelves Now Published: Poppy, 5/2012 "The Last Princess" has something to appeal to every YA reader (whether they be teen or adult!): an appropriately dismal dystopian setting, English royalty, romance, and adventure. I read straight through to the end in one sitting and now I'm jonesing for a sequel! The Princesses of Iowa (Hardcover)$16.99 ISBN-13: 9780763653125Availability: On Our Shelves Now Published: Candlewick, 5/2012 An instantly engrossing read about life-changing mistakes and how to come back from them. Teens will relate to the characters and, hopefully, learn from their actions! Masque of the Red Death (Hardcover)$17.99 ISBN-13: 9780062107794Availability: On Our Shelves Now Published: Greenwillow Books, 4/2012 Griffin's fabulous debut is pleasantly reminiscent of Lia Habel's "Dearly, Departed". Combining steampunk, Victorian gothic, and Edgar Allen Poe's famous poem is unusual, but it works! I adored this wonderful book and I'm excited to see more from this talented new author! Darkness Before Dawn (Paperback)$8.99 ISBN-13: 9780062020659Availability: On Our Shelves Now Published: HarperTeen, 5/2012 A vampire novel in the vein (unintentional pun!) of "Van Helsing", J.A. London's (the pen name for a trio of authors) new book is dark, exciting, and romantic. I'm not a Twilight fan, but I loved this book as will all vampire fans and non-fans! Beauty (Paperback)$9.99 ISBN-13: 9781595143808Availability: Usually Ships in 1-5 days Published: Razorbill, 5/2012 What if you could be transformed from a gawky, awkward teen into the most beautiful girl in town? It sounds like a dream come true, but in Daily's spot-on YA debut there are drawbacks. Teens will love this modern-day fairytale - I did! - and I hope Daily continues to write fantastic YA! Gilt (Hardcover)$17.99 ISBN-13: 9780670013999Availability: On Our Shelves Now Published: Viking Juvenile, 5/2012 Gilt is the perfect read for both a rainy afternoon or a day at the beach - it's lush and expensive setting, dishy royal plot, and a main character you'll identify with from the very start make it an irresistible book! Gilt's different perspective of Henry VIII's court will appeal to both romantics and history buffs! No Safety In Numbers (Hardcover)$17.99 ISBN-13: 9780803738737Availability: On Our Shelves Now Published: Dial, 5/2012 Imagine being trapped in the mall, quarantined because of a biological bomb set off in the air vents. Doesn't sound too bad - until you factor in the thousands of people trapped with you, things get ugly fast. A dark, compelling book that ends with a twist - I can't wait for the sequel! The Hunt (Hardcover)$17.99 ISBN-13: 9781250005144Availability: Usually Ships in 1-5 days Published: St. Martin's Griffin, 5/2012 Fukuda's fantastic crossover debut had me engrossed from page one! "The Hunt" tells the story of a future where vampires are "people" and humans merely "hepers" to be hunted and devoured - unless they can pretend to be just like everyone else. Gene has done it his whole life, but once he gets picked to go on an exclusive "Heper Hunt" will he be able to maintain his facade as a hunter? Or will he become the hunted? This ain't your Twihard's vampire novel! Insurgent (Hardcover)$17.99 ISBN-13: 9780062024046Availability: Usually Ships in 1-5 days Published: Katherine Tegen Books, 5/2012 Roth's fantastic debut caused quite a stir: NYT bestseller, New Voices Pick, Indie Next Pick, and countless bookseller recommendations; her newest, the sequel, is sure to generate just as much buzz! "Insurgent" begins right where "Divergent" left off, with twists and turns and an ending that will make readers gasp (I did, and I've been thinking about it ever since)! Hunger Games fans should check out this intriguing trilogy!

Better late than never, these middle grade novels are fun, fantastic reads! Looking for Me (Hardcover)$15.99 ISBN-13: 9780547610849Availability: On Our Shelves Now Published: Houghton Mifflin Books for Children, 4/2012 Rosenthal's charming debut, about a Jewish girl growing up during the Great Depression, is perfect for reluctant readers: they'll love the short entries written in prose and their parents will love the historical elements. "Looking for Me" is a great book to feature in the classroom or read at home! Summer of the Gypsy Moths (Hardcover)$15.99 ISBN-13: 9780061964206Availability: On Our Shelves Now Published: Balzer + Bray, 4/2012 Pennypacker's newest, about the power of hope and the joy in everyday things, is sweet and heartfelt. Middle grade girls will love this warm story with a happy ending! $13.95 ISBN-13: 9781419701948Availability: Usually Ships in 1-5 days Published: Harry N. Abrams, 4/2012 I just adore Tom Angleberger. his books are quirky, hilarious, hilarious, and exactly what kids want to read! "Fake Mustache" is a book all middle grade readers will enjoy, boy or girl, especially those with a scatalogical sense of humor (one of the weapons used in the book, a booger gun, comes to mind!). This is one title you won't have to persuade reluctant readers to pick up - it sells itself!

I'm doing things backwards this month - why not? It's spring and there are so many wonderful new books out! Supergirl Mixtapes (Hardcover)$17.99 ISBN-13: 9780805080810Availability: On Our Shelves Now Published: Henry Holt and Co. (BYR), 4/2012 I enjoyed every minute of Brothers' second novel! Not only was it a love letter to New York city, it's an interesting look at the music scene in the 90's. Maria is a strong and likable main character, level-headed and a little insecure at the same time, and infinitely relatable. I will definitely be recommending "Supergirl Mixtapes" to teens and adults! The Girl in the Park (Hardcover)$16.99 ISBN-13: 9780375868436Availability: Usually Ships in 1-5 days Published: Schwartz & Wade, 4/2012 A chilling mystery with a surprise ending - teens will gobble this up! Immortal City (Hardcover)$17.99 ISBN-13: 9781595145062Availability: Usually Ships in 1-5 days Published: Razorbill, 4/2012 Let me preface this review with a qualifier: "Immortal City" is not the kind of book I would typically enjoy. I'm not really into angel novels and I don't much enjoy romances. But this debut was so enjoyable that I made an exception! The story of a celebrity-obsessed world (sound familiar?) where angels are the celebrities had me engrossed from the very first page - I definitely recommend this book, both to romance fans and skeptics! The List (Hardcover)$17.99 ISBN-13: 9780545169172Availability: On Our Shelves Now Published: Push, 4/2012 The latest from Siobhan Vivian, a look at the often cruel social hierarchy in high school, is deft, cutting, and current. She captures perfectly the mixed feelings popularity - and unpopularity - can bring. Once I started reading about the eight very different girls featured I couldn't stop until I knew what happened to them! A wrenching and real teen read! Glimmer (Hardcover)$17.99 ISBN-13: 9780061799280Availability: On Our Shelves Now Published: Balzer + Bray, 4/2012 "Glimmer" opens with two teens waking up in each other's arms with no memory of who they are or how they got there. Things just get stranger and more interesting from there! "Lost" fans will love this mysterious treat! Purity (Hardcover)$17.99 ISBN-13: 9780316182461Availability: On Our Shelves Now Published: Little, Brown Books for Young Readers, 4/2012 I adore Jackson Pearce and her newest book is just as wonderful as her others: funny, smart, and warm. Women of all ages, teen to adult, will enjoy "Purity"! The Selection (Hardcover)$17.99 ISBN-13: 9780062059932Availability: On Our Shelves Now Published: HarperTeen, 4/2012 Fans of "Matched" will dive into Cass' stunning debut! It's got everything a girl could want from a YA novel: dystopia, romance, royalty, and intrigue - I couldn't put it down! I'm dying for the next book in the series! Social Suicide (Paperback)$8.99 ISBN-13: 9780062003324Availability: Usually Ships in 1-5 days Published: HarperTeen, 4/2012 Hartley Featherstone is back and acting as detective once again! This time she's investigating the "twittercide" (death by Twitter) of her school's recently dethroned Queen Bee. Hartley is a smart, witty heroine and Halliday's snappy voice (often compared to that of Veronica Mars) will appeal to teens and adults - I can't wait for more from her! I Hunt Killers (Hardcover)$17.99 ISBN-13: 9780316125840Availability: Usually Ships in 1-5 days Published: Little, Brown Books for Young Readers, 4/2012 I Hunt Killers, a thrilling cross between "Dexter" and I Am Not a Serial Killer, is absolutely amazing. The antihero Jazz, the teenage son of an infamous and prolific serial killer, is sympathetic, complex, and fascinating. The story is hideously gory enough to hold the interest (and horrify!) teens and adults. I can't say enough good things about this book and I'm waiting on hatchets and cleavers for a sequel! [Couldn't help myself!] Belles (Hardcover)$17.99 ISBN-13: 9780316091138Availability: Usually Ships in 1-5 days Published: Poppy, 4/2012 Calonita's new series is fun, dishy, and relatable. Teens and tweens will enjoy this sweet, and sometimes serious, rags-to-riches tale! 172 Hours on the Moon (Hardcover)$17.99 ISBN-13: 9780316182881Availability: On Our Shelves Now Published: Little, Brown Books for Young Readers, 4/2012 Harstad's amazing American debut had me hooked from page one! It's a creepy cross between "Lost" and The Martian Chronicles and the chilling ending kept me thinking for days afterward. Teens and adults will be clamoring for more from this talented Scandinavian author! Grave Mercy: His Fair Assassin, Book I (Hardcover)$16.99 ISBN-13: 9780547628349Availability: On Our Shelves Now Published: Houghton Mifflin Books for Children, 4/2012 The first in a compelling new series, Grave Mercy is a masterful blend of fantasy and historical fiction. Teens and adults alike will race through this fascinating and sophisticated tale of a teen assassin in the Middle Ages! Robin LaFever's YA debut is sure to be a rousing success and, for me, the sequel can't come soon enough! Shadows on the Moon (Hardcover)$17.99 ISBN-13: 9780763653446Availability: On Our Shelves Now Published: Candlewick, 4/2012 This re-imagining of the traditional Cinderella story - set in fairytale Japan - is absolutely wonderful! Imaginative, romantic, and adventurous, Shadows On the Moon sucked me in from the very first page. Teens (even those who, like me, aren't normally fantasy readers) will adore this magical debut! The Obsidian Blade (Hardcover)$16.99 ISBN-13: 9780763654030Availability: Usually Ships in 1-5 days Published: Candlewick, 4/2012 I was extremely impressed with Hautman's newest, the first in a trilogy. It's everything I think science fiction should be: intriguing without being confusing, characters who are strong and relatable, and an ending that left me wanting more! Teens and adults (even those who aren't big sci-fi fans) will enjoy this fascinating and unsettling novel!

The Gods of Gotham (Hardcover)$25.95 ISBN-13: 9780399158377Availability: Usually Ships in 1-5 days Published: Amy Einhorn Books/Putnam, 3/2012 Lindsay Faye weaves an enchanting tale in her newest novel! She introduces us to Timothy Wilde, a member of the newly formed New York Police Department with Sherlock Holmes-level powers of observation. He has a Herculean task ahead of him: besides solving a string of horrific murders, he must fight the growing tensions in the city between native New Yorkers and the growing number of Irish immigrants. "The Gods of Gotham" was wonderful historical fiction and a chilling mystery - I look forward to the rest of the series! $24.99 ISBN-13: 9780312640231Availability: On Our Shelves Now Published: Thomas Dunne Books, 2/2012 Can't get enough of Mad Men? I don't know whether it was due to the lush setting, the strong heroine, or the suspenseful, chilling story, but I thoroughly enjoyed this novel, a departure for me. A lovely start to a new series! Ripper (Hardcover)$17.99 ISBN-13: 9780399255243Availability: On Our Shelves Now Published: Philomel, 3/2012 "Ripper", as the name implies is bloody - and a lot of fun!
