E.D.Baker's new book The Wide Awake Princess is a tale of Princess Anabelle and her older sister Princess Gwendolyn, both who were each given very different gifts at birth. Gwendolyn was given the gifts of beauty and charm but also cursed to prick her finger on her sixteenth birthday and sleep for 100 years. Afraid of another curse, Anabelle's parents asked her fairy for protection and she was therefore given the gift that no magic can touch her, good or bad. After Gwendolyn and the rest of the kingdom fall under the curse, it's up to Anabelle to save the them. A fun and humourous read, this book also has many other classic fairy tale twists to it.

LOVE LOVE LOVE this book! I admit skepticism at first glance but after giving it a fair try I fell in love with the characters, the setting and the feeling it gave me. Anna travels to The City of Lights for boarding school with mixed feelings but after finding a group of friends and the local cinema (the movies are her passion) she learns to appreciate the life Paris has to offer. And when the already attached and yummy St. Clair comes into the picture she knows that life is about to get a whole lot more complicated then just going to school and eating at the local cafe. With a relatively simple plot this book's witty and intimate writing is what will capture you. A must for fans of Sarah Dessen and Meg Cabot!

Admittedly, I am a Cabot fanatic but I swear this is one of her best. Pierce Oliviera was a normal high school girl until she died. And came back to life. After her NDE as the doctors call it, her mother moves her to Isla Heusos. Here in the hot, humid climate of Florida, Pierce starts to encounter a different type of danger; The tall, hulking, beautiful and immortal type danger. John, as he is called by some, watches Pierce and awaits the day that she can fulfill her destiny. With him. In the Underworld. Cabot has masterfully retold the myth of Persephone in an entertaining and provocative way.

One of the best books of the year by far. A complicated love triangle only made more complex by the big brother "society" of the future. Cassia has spent her whole life following the rules of the Society. And on her birthday she accepts that her perfect "match" is life long friend Xander. Her and Xander start to fall into the rolls of matched partners but when Cassia meets Ky on a school trip her world is shaken because she feels Ky is a better match. This discovery forces Cassia to unravel the secrets of the Society and question the role that the government should play in our lives. Poetic and powerful this dystopian will leave you speechless.

When Nora Grey finally wakes she has no idea why she is in the town cemetery nor can she remember the last four months of her life. In this third (and almost final) novel by Becca Fitzpatrick, we learn what has been going on with Patch and Nora since the night of Nora’s shooting and the Black Hand’s involvement. Needless to say, I love this volume as much if not more then the previous two and cannot wait to see how everything ends in the fourth and final book!

This book has so many awesome qualities that reveal themselves to you after being read. I’ll fully admit that as I began reading I couldn’t believe how shallow and insipid the main characters were being. I am SO HAPPY I continued reading. The plot line is intriguing, well paced and full of mystery. The characters, while hard to relate to in the beginning and quite frankly make you want to scream at them in frustration, by the end have you feeling fully sympathetic (a hard feat in my opinion for any author to achieve). It is a creepy read that still weeks later has me questioning what happened and pondering the ending. A worthy and intriguing read!
