Reviewed by Jerica D., age 10 A Good Horse is about a girl, Abby Lovitt, and her family who own nine horses. For Abby’s birthday, her Mother hires a horse trainer to give her lessons with Abby’s horse, a two year-old colt called Jack. But then Jack is reported as not-theirs, because his mother was stolen by a horse thief. In the middle of this turmoil, Black George, another horse, and Abby are jumping partners, and they’re about to enter in a jumping show. The two of them clear four feet one day, and heads turn, and not just any heads, but buyers’ heads. Now Abby stands to lose Jack to his rightful owner and Black George to a buyer. Do these horses go, or stay with Abby? I suggest reading to find out!

Reviewed by Vanessa L. This book is about a young orphan girl named Margaret Ann Brady who is given the oppurtunity to sail on the Titanic, the greatest ocean liner in the world. She goes with Sister Catherine, her caretaker. Margaret is very excited to meet up with her brother again, and can’t wait to board the Titanic. Once she is on the ship, Margaret is fascinated by everything. But, on the night of the disaster, Margaret fears that she will not live to see her brother again, or her other friends at her orphanage. I liked this book because Margaret Ann Brady is a believable character and the author used many details in the story to help the reader understand it better. This book is also great for anybody who is interested in the story of the Titanic.
